What Does Nearsighted Mean?
If you don’t have trouble seeing things up close, but
squint when focusing on distant objects, it is possible you may just be
nearsighted. Nearsightedness is a common term for the visual condition called
Myopia is a condition that occurs within the eye—the
eyeball is too long or the cornea (lens) is too steep, causing images to fall in
front of the retina, the area that “processes” visual images. People who are
nearsighted can see objects “near” to them clearly, while objects further away
appear less clear or blurry.
Nearsightedness is a common vision problem, one that can
become more prevalent with age. It is generally pretty easy to treat myopia with
corrective lenses or contact lenses.
